If your look closely at these ads they are not actually selling anything. Any company that is just selling the opportunity to make money is likely a scam. True, some affiliate marketing companies will have attention grabbing headlines like the ones mentioned above. However, if you go on to read the ad and information, there will likely be a detailed description of what they company sells. They will also have a disclaimer and terms and conditions listed.
These companies that offer, the opportunity to make money are likely pyramid schemes. The only people paying money in are the ones actually joining. There is no income being created, just money being passed from person to person. Not only are these scams and you’ll loose what you invested, they are also illegal and you can face prosecution.
Another thing to watch out for is no free participation. If you have to pay to join then you may have stumbled upon a scam or what is known as a multilevel marketing program. Multi-level marketing programs are completely legal and some people make good livings out of them. However, if you’re not successful you may end up purchasing a bunch of products that you cannot sell.
True affiliate programs are free. That is part of their attraction. There are no costs to you and they should also be risk free. Any Affiliate marketing programs that demands your money is not an affiliate program. You should ask yourself why they are misrepresenting themselves this way if they are legitimate.
Many of us dream of being our own bosses. We would love to be able to take control of our lives and careers. The attraction of answering only to you combined with setting your own working hours and committing what your choose bring loads of people into the affiliate marketing schemes. Affilaite marketing can be an excellent way for a highly motivated, creative person to make an excellent living. There are some wonderful programs out there just waiting to be joined. However, for every great program there is likely one that is fraudulent. Con artists operate in many areas and unfortunate affiliate marketing is not immune.
Before joining, check to see what the company is selling. If they are not selling goods or services then they are likely an illegal pyramid scheme. If they require your own money to get started then they are what are known as a multi level marketing program. Affiliate marketing can be a great opportunity but you need to do your homework.

NOT MAKING MONEY - MARKETING TRENDS…INTERNET ADVERTISING
I always wondered why they called it jumping on the bandwagon. As a matter of fact, I looked it up and it seems that back in the 19th century, there were bandwagons that were used in the pre circus parades. The members of the circus would ride on top of these colorful bandwagons. As they passed by, spectators would notice and join the procession. The circus promoters would hope that this would encourage the followers to actually become paying spectators of the circus itself. That is how the term jumping on the bandwagon got started.
What does this have to do with marketing trends and Internet advertising? Everything. See, whenever somebody comes up with a new way of "getting the word out" everybody and their grandmother jumps on the bandwagon and uses that method of advertising to promote their product or service. It doesn't matter if the method has been proven or not. Once somebody sees another person using it, the bandwagon jumping begins because nobody wants to be left out of the "in crowd."
So, what are the top marketing trends for Internet advertising today?
Probably the most widely used method of advertising is, and will probably be for a long time, Google Adwords. This is a relatively inexpensive and effective form of marketing that precisely targets the people who you want to reach. That is of course assuming that you set your Adwords campaign up properly. Many have gone broke because of poor keyword selection, poor choice of bid amounts and just plain awfully worded ads. Google Adwords is by no means a sure thing if you don't know what to do with it.
Another form of marketing that seems to have created a buzz these days is Butterfly Marketing. This is really just another form of viral marketing where a friend tells another friend and so on. It's word of mouth with a few twists to it. Many Butterfly Marketing sites have shown incredible success, again if you set them up correctly.
Another big buzz around town is Bum Marketing. This is basically the practice of writing articles after doing careful keyword research on the topic of your choice, and then submitting those articles to article directories. The key is to make sure you have a resource box that contains a way for people to get more information through your website, much like this very article. It's actually very effective.
Of course aside from the "new wave" of marketing trends, there are still the tried and true methods like SEO, E-zine Ads and a host of other things that have worked since I can remember. The thing about trends is that many of them are really just reworked ideas of old methods. The ones that aren't, usually don't last very long because when all is said and done, the most effective forms of marketing have probably already been invented.
So, if you're looking for the "new" thing under the big top, you may not have to look any farther than optimizing your website for the search engines and taking out a few good solo ads in the better E-zines. Of course writing an article every now and then can't hurt.
It certainly hasn't hurt me any.

If you were to take a poll on what was the most popular form of making money on the Internet, you’d probably get about a 50-50 split between affiliate marketing and selling on Ebay. From the people I have spoken to, Ebay seems to give them more of a feeling of really running their own business. I didn’t really get that feeling because I’d already created my own products to sell online. But I can understand their feeling of excitement. They had to jump through a lot of hoops to sell on Ebay, especially if they were into drop shipping.
Make no mistake about it. Selling on Ebay is a real rush. There power trip of being totally in control of everything is far beyond the rush you get from selling an affiliate product where you have no control over the commission structure, website or anything. With Ebay, you make or break it on every level.
However, with that kind of rush comes a great deal of responsibility. There’s nobody to lean on when you’re selling on Ebay. You are your own boss and everything falls on your shoulders. There’s no Clickbank to turn to for refunds. All refunds come out of your pocket and if there are enough customer complaints, you can be shut down in an instant. So you better make sure that you run a tight ship.
So, you want to sell on Ebay. Okay, if that’s the case, you better have a solid game plan. I don’t mean just what products you’re going to sell. I mean how you’re going to advertise, how you’re going to price, where you’re going to get the products from and a lot more. Everything will have to be in place and ready to go before you even place your first Ebay ad. Just one thing not taken care of and the whole operation falls apart.
If you’re really efficient and a quick worker, you can probably get an Ebay campaign going, depending on how complex it is, in about a week. Some take a month or longer to put together. My particular campaign, when I first started, was simple and took me a week. If I knew what I was doing back then, it probably wouldn’t have taken me as long, but everybody starts out somewhere.
One word of caution before you even venture into this territory. You’re going to have to be very careful about regulations. Ebay has a ton of them as does PayPal. They’re not going to care about your email to them that says “I didn’t know.” That’s why Ebay and PayPal have all these terms of service. They expect people to read them, even though they may take a year and a day to do so.
Having said that, it is not the purpose of this tutorial to teach you Ebay and PayPal regulations. That I am leaving in YOUR hands. This tutorial is simply to help you set up a business for the purpose of selling on Ebay.

Search Engine Friendly Ways to Build Link Popularity

Acquiring relevant backlinks to your website is one of the most important parts of any Search Engine Optimization campaign. The search engine's and especially Google value backlinks to your website as an indicator of your website's importance. If a large number of webmaster's have decided to link to your content then you must be an important information hub in your target keyword marketplace.

If you can manage to get a large number of links from similar or complimentary websites that are ranked high by the search engine's then your website should also start to climb the search engine rankings and increase the traffic to your site. Of course the quality of links, the anchor text of the links, the total number of links, the content of the page your link is on, how many outbound links are on the page, and the ranking of the page your link is on are all extremely important factors to consider when developing a linking strategy for your business.
When adding your links to resource directories where you have control over your link remember to utilize all the tools you have available to you to get the most out of the backlink to your site.
Place your keywords in img “alt” tags (if you have an image with your link), link “title” tag, and in the anchor text for your link. You have to remember that when a search engine visits a site that has a backlink to you that they have no idea what your website is about yet. Of course the search engine spider will make decisions based on it's evaluation of the webpage but you can help them (and yourself) out by applying these simple principles to all backlinks you have control over. If you are submitting to a directory make sure you place your link under a category that has your keywords in the title of the category if possible.
You also have the option of “buying” links to your website, a strategy that has worked and continues to work now, but the search engine's frown on this practice and have a tendency to black hole websites involved in “link farming” techniques. It's ok to purchase advertising or to seek out strategic partnerships for reciprocal linking of course but purchasing links for the sole purposes of boosting your search rankings is against Google's Terms of Service.
Trust me when I say Google can tell with pretty good accuracy who is buying their links and who is not. It really isn't that hard to tell and does not require that much analysis to figure out. You can perform this type of analysis for yourself, and you should do this to see what the competition in your market is doing. If you do purchase links make sure these are not the only links back to your site. The search engine's like to see a “natural” growth to the number and quality of your backlinks. Having a couple of high ranking links and no others is a big red flag. Any site that grows naturally will have a pyramidal distribution of links with the greatest number of links at or near the bottom of the ranking ladder.
So you don't want your site to get black holed but you do want to accelerate the rate at which your website climbs the search engine rankings and hence see the benefits of free targeted traffic to your website. The good news is there are several Search Engine friendly ways to improve your link popularity:
1. Write Articles and have them published
The search engine's love content filled web pages since these pages are providing information not just advertising. Writing articles related to your website topic and having them published on high ranking websites is a great first step to building your link popularity.
You may not have traffic coming to your site yet, but these article sites sure do. If someone likes your article a number of these article publishing sites will allow the user to download the article for use on their site. You are allowed to include a resource box with your article which you would obviously use to place a link to your website. Submit your articles to as many article submission sites as you can, they are hungry for your content.
2. Publish a Blog
This is a similar idea to writing articles except that you will have total editorial control of your Blog content. Feel free to weave in a few product and affiliate links where appropriate in your Blog content (something many article sites frown upon). Submit your blog to Blog and Web directories to help build the link popularity for your blog. Make sure you link your blog to your main website so anyone reading your Blog will be able to find you. You can also have your Blog syndicated via RSS to really explode your exposure. Be sure to add a resource box to the end of each article with a link to your website so that anyone syndicating your article via RSS will be able to find you.

Getting listed can take 6-9 months if at all so you will definitely have to add some other directory targets to your short term plans.
Yahoo! offers an express paid directory listing for $299 USD a year which may be worth the price for your particular website. There are also a number of Quality Free Web Directories that should be on your to do list. Remember to submit to the most relevant category and preferably one with your keywords in the title and link anchor text.

As long as you are continuing to build your links naturally utilizing the techniques above you can supplement your backlink count with a few carefully purchased links on high traffic sites. This can give you a double benefit of helping you boost your link popularity and also provide you a stream of traffic from the website itself if you have targeted your purchase correctly. If your site is about real estate, consider purchasing links in a real estate directory that has a large amount of traffic.
5. Post in relevant Forums
Search engine's love forums because they are moderated by humans and have a lot of ever-changing content on them. These types of sites are indexed regularly and can be a great place to spread the word about your site and gain link popularity. Every time you post your “signature” is attached to your posting which should contain a link to your site if you have set it up correctly.
6. Provide valuable original content or tools on your website
Writing articles or having unique tools that people would find valuable on your website are great ways to build up backlinks without having to expend effort. If you provide a great tool on your site for free other webmasters will link up to your site without you having to solicit them. If you find resources that compliment the services you offer on your website, consider contacting the owner's of these websites and trading links with them. Do not make these judgments based on the site's page rank but rather focus on how relevant the other site's content is to yours.
